Telemedicine: Should you call FSH or your PCP?

FSH Doctors

Telemedicine, or talking to a doctor via phone or video, is a great way to keep your social distance and still get the care you need.

More clinics, health systems, and providers are making telemedicine available to patients, giving them more ways to access care. With more options at your fingertips, you might be wondering where to turn for care.

When should I use First Stop Health?

Use us to avoid those germy urgent care or ER waiting rooms for issues like sinus infection, sore throat, cough, toothache, minor injury, UTI, fever, and more! And feel free to call with medical questions, rather than taking a chance with unreliable online sources. Telemedicine is:

  • quick and convenient. There’s no need to schedule an appointment. Request a visit on the app to talk to a doctor
     in MINUTES.
  • provided by your employer for little or no cost to you.

First Stop Health doctors are available 24/7 and can write prescriptions when the time is right.

When should I call my primary care physician?

You should schedule an appointment with your primary care physician for:

  • ongoing care for chronic conditions like high cholesterol, diabetes, and more. (But if you're in a pinch and need an emergency refill, FSH doctors can usually help.)
  • questions about lifestyle medications such as those for weight control or hair loss.
